TEWKSBURY – Police Chief Ryan Columbus reports that the Tewksbury Police Department arrested and charged a man with third-offense drunken driving as a result of a hit and run crash near the police station.

KEVIN O’DONNELL, AGE 58, OF TEWKSBURY, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operating Under the Influence of Liquor (Third Offense)
  • Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Crash
  • Marked Lanes Violation
  • Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle

On Wednesday, Dec. 6, at approximately 10:41 p.m., Tewksbury Police were notified that a Toyota Tundra was being driven erratically and struck a tree in the area of the Tewksbury Police Station, 918 Main St.

Officers responded and located damage to a tree on the front lawn of the police station, as well as tire tracks in the grass. A description of the vehicle involved was also obtained, and police located a vehicle matching the description in the area of Main Street and Victor Drive. 

Following an on-scene investigation, the driver of the Toyota Tundra, identified as O’DONNELL, was taken into custody. 

O’DONNELL was held overnight at the police station and is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday in Lowell District Court.
