TEWKSBURY – Chief Ryan Columbus reports that the Tewksbury Police Department arrested and charged a local man with larceny by false pretenses following an investigation into an anonymous tip line submission.

NICHOLAS DEVEAU, AGE 27, of TEWKSBURY was arrested and charged with:

  • Larceny Under $1200 by False Pretense

On Sunday, June 15, Tewksbury Police Department received an email through their anonymous tip line from an individual reporting that they believed they were being scammed.

During an initial investigation by the Tewksbury Criminal Investigations Division, it was determined that the individual had agreed to trade sports trading cards with another party, identified as DEVEAU. The individual sent DEVEAU a trading card, with an estimated value of about $617.17, and had not received any trading cards or monetary reimbursement in return for several weeks, despite several attempts to contact DEVEAU to resolve the issue.

Between the value of the card and shipping costs, it is estimated the individual lost about $708.17.

Police also determined that DEVEAU was on probation out of Woburn District Court for a charge of Larceny Under $1200 by False Pretense from an incident that occurred in Stoneham.

DEVEAU was arrested without incident, and will be arraigned in Lowell District Court on Friday, June 20. He is currently being held without bail.

These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
