TEWKSBURY – Police Chief Ryan Columbus reports that the Tewksbury Police Department arrested and charged a man and woman with trafficking fentanyl and other drug charges. 

MORAIMA PEREZ, AGE 48, OF LOWELL, was arrested and charged with:

  • Trafficking Fentanyl (36 to 100 Grams)
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class B substance
  • Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws

JOSE RIVERA, AGE 57, OF LOWELL, was arrested and charged with:

  • Trafficking Fentanyl (36 to 100 Grams)
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class B substance (Subsequent Offense)
  • Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws

On Tuesday, Dec. 12, as a result of an ongoing investigation and surveillance of the Motel 6 at 95 Main St., Tewksbury Police obtained a search warrant for a room in the motel. 

The subsequent search of the room located just under 60 grams of fentanyl, over 6 grams of crack cocaine, and $9,125 in cash, as well as various drug paraphernalia. 

Both PEREZ and RIVERA were present in the room when the search was conducted. Both were arrested at the time of the search. 

PEREZ and RIVERA are scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Lowell District Court. 

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
