TEWKSBURY – Chief Ryan Columbus reports that the Tewksbury Police Department arrested and charged a man in connection with a stabbing at Tewksbury State Hospital, and that the department is additionally charging the defendant with assaulting two police officers while being booked.

On Thursday, Feb. 15, at approximately 7 p.m., Tewksbury Police were notified of an assault on the grounds of the Tewksbury State Hospital.
Officers arrived to discover that an individual had been stabbed during an altercation between parties who are known to each other. The suspect, later identified as KOBS, then fled the area.
The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
The Tewksbury Police Department Drone Unit, Massachusetts State Police Air Wing, and multiple K-9 units assisted in the search for KOBS.
On Friday, Feb. 16, at approximately 8:46 a.m. Tewksbury officers were dispatched to the area of Lee Street for possible citing of a suspicious person and located KOBS in a shed.
KOBS was taken into custody without incident and was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.
Upon being released from the hospital, KOBS subsequently attacked two police officers while being booked the Tewksbury Police Department and threw a telephone at an officer. Tewksbury Police filed additional charges against KOBS as a result.
KOBS is being held without bail at the Tewksbury Police Department and is expected to be arraigned Tuesday in Lowell District Court.
