TEWKSBURY — The Tewksbury Police Department, with support from law enforcement partners, charged a Lawrence man with trafficking fentanyl following an investigation into a fatal overdose.
WILKIN CASTILLO-ARIAS, 36, of LAWRENCE, was arrested and charged with:
- Trafficking More Than 10 Grams of Fentanyl
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class B Substance
On Sunday, Sept. 6, the Tewksbury Police Department began an investigation into a fatal overdose that occurred at a motel on Main Street in Tewksbury.
As a result of that investigation, on Monday, Sept. 14, at approximately 6:30 p.m., an individual later identified as CASTILLO-ARIAS was taken into custody with assistance from the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office, Burlington Police, Billerica Police, and Andover Police.
CASTILLO-ARIAS was arraigned Tuesday in Lowell District Court, where he was ordered held on $5,000 cash bail. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement also placed a detainer on CASTILLO-ARIAS.
“I am extremely proud of the work that led to this arrest,” said Chief Ryan Columbus. “Those who sell drugs must be held accountable. When an overdose claims a life, we will pursue every investigative lead, leave no stone unturned, and continue fighting for victims and their families.”
These are allegations. All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
