TEWKSBURY — Chief Ryan Columbus reports that the Tewksbury Police Department charged a Chelmsford man with armed robbery.
ISAIAH POLSTON, AGE 19, OF CHELMSFORD, was charged with:
- Armed Robbery
- Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Firearm)
- Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (Motor Vehicle)
On Tuesday, Dec. 5, at approximately 6:15 p.m., Tewksbury Police responded to a report of an armed robbery on Pratt Street. The reporting party stated he was robbed at gunpoint by a group of suspects in a vehicle as he was attempting to buy vape cartridges. The victim was also dragged by the motor vehicle during the incident and suffered scrapes and bruises.
A subsequent investigation that involved obtaining multiple search warrants identified POLSTON as a suspect. Tewksbury Police subsequently obtained an arrest warrant for POLSTON from Lowell District Court.
POLSTON was in Lowell District Court on an unrelated matter on Tuesday, June 25 when he was taken into custody and arraigned on Tewksbury’s arrest warrant. He was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing that was held on Thursday, June 27. At the dangerousness hearing, POLSTON was released with conditions that he wear a GPS monitoring bracelet and stay away from an exclusion zone. He must also obtain a substance use evaluation and mental health evaluation, and get any follow up care that is recommended.
POLSTON is due back in Lowell District Court on Aug. 13.
